
5. Slide the starter handle
(Figure 8, (2)) on the starter shaft
(Figure 8, (1)), align the groove and
pin, and turn the engine over about 10
times.

6. Listen for any abnormal noises while
cranking the engine.
7. Remove the starter handle.
8. Place the decompression lever in the
RUN position.
CRANKING THE ENGINE
ELECTRICALLY
NOTICE: When performing engine
break-in or if the engine has not been
used for a long period of time, engine oil
will not be distributed to all of the
operating parts. Using the engine in this
condition will lead to seizure.
After a long period of non-use, distribute
engine oil to each part by cranking the
engine. Perform the following procedure
before beginning operation:
1. Open the seacock.
2. Open the fuel cock.
Note: If the engine has not been
operated for a long period of time,
check that the key can be moved
from the OFF to the ON position
smoothly.
3. Put the remote control shift lever in the
NEUTRAL position.
4. Pull the engine stop knob
(Figure 9, (1)) out and hold
continuously while cranking.

5. With the key in the ON position, push
the start button and the engine will
begin cranking.
6. Continue cranking for about 5 seconds
and listen for any unusual noises.
